Using Research To Learn What The Exposure Triangle Is! TASK 1.4

Updated: Nov 30, 2023

Primary Research Using primary research I was able to gain an in-depth understanding of how specific camera functions work and how to switch between different modes. I did this by watching YouTube Tutorials that have helped me learn more about the exposure triangle and understood that its important in photography. Secondary Research In contrast, secondary research methods enabled me to learn about the core functions of a camera, such as A, M, S, and Auto modes, by reviewing the work and experiences of others. Through this research, I developed a understanding of when to use the functions and how I can use it in my future photography. Here's what I learned using secondary research methods: A – Aperture Priority: This mode allows manual adjustments of the aperture value, also known as the f-number. The camera's built-in light meter continually looks out for the scene's lighting conditions, providing control over the depth of field.

M – Manual Mode: In this mode, both aperture and shutter speed are manually controlled, offering creative freedom to experiment with various effects and settings. This is ideal for those seeking precise results. Manual mode doesn't automatically adjust the shutter and aperture, which can be a drawback.

S – Shutter Priority Mode: This mode lets you manually adjust the shutter speed while the camera automatically selects the appropriate aperture to ensure proper exposure based on the set shutter speed and lighting conditions. It provides control over motion blur in your photos.

Auto Mode: Auto mode allows the camera to automatically adjust aperture, ISO, and shutter speed according to the environment. It's useful for quick and efficient photo-taking. And it saves you lots of time.

Understanding the exposure triangle is important to use in photography. It comprises of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Mastering of this triangle enables you to balance these three elements, resulting in well-exposed, noise-free photographs that look natural.

Personally, I relied more on primary research methods. I actively on out and learned the information on how cameras work, and tutorials were particularly helpful in with understanding the functions of each camera feature and how to use them effectively.
